The Red Rock Area is a 30-mile transportation corridor that begins in Hastings and continues through downtown St. Paul and downtown Minneapolis. Studies began in October 2009 to look at the anticipated growth of the corridor and the market analysis for development.

Station stops would include Lower Afton Road in St. Paul, Newport, Cottage Grove, and Hastings.

The final report on the study was presented, discussed, and approved at the county board’s Jan. 17 meeting. The study has also been approved by the cities of St. Paul, Newport, Cottage Grove and Hastings.

Now, the commission will complete an advanced alternatives analysis and work with the cities on future plans.
